Work will commence Monday and the new store should open by the last weekend of January. David Pike and Mark Orton reported that this deal was struck after joint administrators of Saltrock, who are also directors, worked diligently on its rescue bid. Crew was established in Salcombe back in 1991 but now operates nationwide selling nautical-inspired smart casual clothing.

Exquisite Apparel purchased the company in 2016, intending to build on Crew's UK heritage while still prioritising turning around their core UK business, which had struggled in a competitive clothing market. Recently, the company has invested in their digital presence with an improved website and investment in customer insight analysis. Halite is a naturally occurring form of sodium chloride crystallization and thus inspired their brand name. Saltrock's name also reflects its location - just 40 minutes outside Durban - while its logo features three Kiwi birds silhouetted against an ocean backdrop.

Despite challenges encountered by surfwear manufacturers, Saltrock has become an iconic symbol of British surfwear culture.
